1994 saw Janie graduate from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with her degree in Basic Medical Sciences. She decided to forego completing her Ph.D. after issues with her lab funding. We decided to move back to Atlanta in February, where J. R. started work at Tatham & Associates and Janie began looking for a job while taking care of Alex. We stayed with Janie's grandmother in Peachtree City for a month after her grandfather passed away and then moved to an apartment in Roswell. Janie would take a job with Brinks Process Systems later in the year, working on process design for the beverage industry.
As luck would have it, Alex was running a fever the day of his first birthday so we stayed in. The cake Janie made him put him in a better mood.
Alex celebrated second (and third) birthday with his grandparents in Peachtree City. His great-grandmother baked him an elaborate cake to celebrate.
Alex had a play date with Cammie's daughter at their house nearby since neither of them got out much.
Toddlers are never cuter than when they are asleep.
Some of Alex's favorite toys were his "tot-a-round", which replaced the traditional idea of a walker and his cuddly horse.
We had received a cuddly warm baby bear outfit for Alex, but the weather had never gotten cold enough in Alabama for him to wear it, so we took some indoor pictures of him in it before he grew out of it.
