We took a streetcar ride to look at some of the stately homes decorated for Christmas.
Aquarium of the Americas
For our anniversary day, we toured the Aquarium of the Americas, one of our favorite aquariums.
Riverwalk
On our last day, we spent some time at the Riverwalk mall to do some shopping. We were going to have lunch at the food court, but didn't find anything exciting. So we decided to head over to the Hard Rock, stopping on our way out to buy a train toy for Alex. When we arrived at the Hard Rock, we heard that an ocean-going freighter had crashed into the side of the Riverwalk mall, near the food court where we would have been eating. No one was seriously injured, but we were glad we had left early. We realized later just how close we had been as the ship struck at 2:15 in the afternoon and our receipt from the train store was stamped at 2:10.
Drive Home
We checked out of the hotel and drove back to Atlanta to pick up our kids from grandpa's house.
