In Spring 2000, we made our first-ever family visit to the left coast, taking time in San Diego, Monterey, Legoland and finally Disneyland.
We landed at LAX, picked up a rental car and then drove south, stopping off at Monterey for a night at the beach and then spending a day in La Jolla.
On our drive back up, we stopped in Carlsbad and visited Legoland California. We were surprised at the number of rides Thomas could not ride due to his height as we had expected this park to be far more friendly to younger children.
We spent one day in Beverly Hills and Hollywood, window shopping on Rodeo Drive and then going to the Walk of Fame. We weren't impressed with either the stars or the famed Chinese Theater.
Saving the best for last, we finished our stay at Disneyland, staying off-side at the Marriott. A lot of the area was under construction for the new California Adventure theme park and Downtown Disney area that will open in 2001.
