We took two trips "sans kids" in the fall of 2000, one to Boston while the kids were with grandma and another to San Francisco when Janie had a business trip.
Boston
The boys were spending a week at Grandma's house so the parents decided to take off to Cape Cod and Boston for the weekend. We spent one night on the Cape and did some sightseeing, then a day in Boston, visiting Lexington and downtown sites.
Salem
We took a side excursion to Salem where we took in a re-enactment of one of the witch trials and also toured "the House of the Seven Gables".
Maine
After Salem, we drove up to Kennebunkport, Maine, in search of Maine lobster. We did a little shopping and found a little restaurant on the shore where we ordered our lobsters. We were sitting on the porch getting ready to crack in when we saw lightning and we were ushered inside as the skies opened up. We finished our meals and then made a wet run to our car for the drive back to Boston.
San Francisco
The next week, Janie had to go to San Francisco for a training session so we used it as an opportunity for a weekend excursion. We met up with our friend Troy from Atlanta who was now living in Oakland and took a trip out to Napa for some wine before enjoying the other local sights.
