Grand Canyon & Yavapai Lodge

Our lodging for the next few days would be the Yavapai Lodge, located on Grand Canyon property near the South Rim. It was basic accommodation but comfortable and allowed us to walk to some of the trails. We spent most of the day hiking around the south rim of the canyon. We thought about taking a short hike into the canyon, but with Rebecca, it probably didn't make sense so we stuck to the trails around the rim.

We had an 8:30 reservation in the El Tovar dining room for dinner and had some of the worst service ever. We showed up at 8:00 to have a drink at the bar and were told we would be seated around 8:45, 15 minutes late. We went back to the hostess stand at 8:50 and the hostess said she didn't have a table for us. She had someone take us back to a table but told him to 'walk slow'. We understood why when we got there and the table was filthy. We asked for a manager and 10 minutes later he came out and said 'what is your problem, we have a table for you' (a half hour after our reservation).
