Spring Parents' Weekend at Kappa Alpha Theta at Alabama was a subdued affair thanks to COVID-19 but we still took the opportunity to fly down to Birmingham to spend some time with Rebecca and get away from the moving stress. We flew into BHM and Becca drove up to pick us up. We stopped at Victory Grill for dinner and watch the end of the Georgia Tech-Loyola basketball game.
There was a parent mixer in downtown Tuscaloosa that we stopped by for a little while. Due to COVID, they were doing the mixer in shifts and Becca only knew a couple of girls. We chatted with the parent of one of her Neuqua water polo teammates and had a drink and listened to a little music before heading back to the hotel, but not before Becca had to stop and get her photo taken with the metal elephant art.
We met up with Becca for breakfast and then headed over to campus to walk around the SupeStore before heading to the crawfish boil, which was being held in a tent adjacent to Bryant-Denny Stadium. We had crawfish and corn and potatoes and chatted with another family from Oswego, IL.
We were allowed inside the Theta house to use the facilities and Becca gave us a quick tour of the common areas downstairs.
We were going to go for an early dinner at a BBQ place downtown but it was crowded due to the Alabama basketball game on TV so we went across the street to Taco Mama, which was okay. Then we headed to the hotel to hang out for the night with Rebecca, who was not feeling well due to cat allergies after spending some time with one of her friends in their apartment the night before. We returned her to her dorm then had Metro Diner for breakfast the next morning before driving to Birmingham. Becca got a Trader Joe's stop out of us, then we had some sushi at the Summit before she dropped us off at the airport.
