Shortly after the New Year began, it was time to return Rebecca to Alabama. She got to hang out with her high school friends in downtown Chicago and then we started the drive down. We stopped as usual at the Old Spaghetti Factory and spent a night in Louisville. Then we drove to Chattanooga for a visit to the Lodge Factory Outlet and lunch "On Top of the Mountain".
We ended up in Atlanta where Thomas joined us for dinner at Chuy's and a game of Cards Against Humanity. We met him at his apartment the next morning and spent the afteroon at Top Golf, followed by some dominoes in our hotel and finally dinner near Perimeter Mall. We said goodbye to him on Saturday and made the drive to Birmingham on Sunday. A quick stop for lunch at P.F. Chang's and then Becca dropped us at the airport. We flew home to Chicago while she drove back to school.
Rebecca's return to Alabama for Fall 2021 was a different trip than the past coming up from Florida rather than making the drive from Chicago. Originally she planned to make the drive herself, stopping on the Gulf Coast to visit a friend who was working there. But her friend's roommate contracted Covid-19 and those plans changed. So instead Janie decided to drive Rebecca through Atlanta to visit Janie's dad and then hop a flight from Birmingham home.
