Burg Eltz

After a night at the hotel in Bullay and morning breakfast, we drove to Burg Eltz, a medieval castle that is still occupied to this day. We walked from the parking lot through the woods on a nice hiking path and arrived at the castle. We took the castle tour in the morning to see how the royalty in this area lived in the 14th century.

Rudesheim

We drove along the river to the town of Rudesheim where we had planned to stop at another winery. But after walking up a long hill, we found the wineries to be closed. We didn't want to take the skyride up to the winery on the hill, so we stopped at a restaurant to have lunch and some drinks instead. We explored the town and then began the long drive back to Frankfurt. We again were detoured off the main highway and had to travel through back roads and small towns but eventually found our way to Frankfurt Airport and our hotel. We got some fast food and drank wine in our hotel room and prepared to fly back the next day, leaving Thomas in the Atlanta airport on our way back to Orlando.
