Bennet experienced his first plane ride as Alex and Bethany packed up all his gear and they made their way from Houston to Orlando for Bennet's first visit to Disney World. He had a great flight strapped to Alex and we met them at the airport. After a quick stop at White Castle for food for Bethany and J. R. and Portillo's for a taste of Chicago for Alex and Janie, we headed to the house and set Bennet up for the week with a morning at Disney World awaiting the next day.
On Sunday morning we packed up Bennet and dropped Alex, Bethany and Bennet off at Mary Queen of the Universe for Sunday Mass. After Mass, we drove to Epcot where the first priority was getting some photos in front of Spaceship Earth, which unfortunately was closed for repairs. Then we headed to see Figment, which was a mistake as Bennet got scared so we will avoid the purple dragon for awhile. We rode Living with the Land and the Seas with Nemo and Friends which were much more calming.
We walked through Moana, Journey of Water, which was something new for Alex and Bethany as well and stopped for some photos with Bennet.
The Food and Wine Festival was in full force so the ladies needed a margarita and then we browsed around World Showcase where Bethany met the man who designed her favorite perfume in Norway and got his autograph. We split some festival foods and got a chance to sit down and relax after a busy morning.
J. R. had purchased Lightning Lane passes for Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind. The ladies went first while Alex and J. R. went to the Connections eatery to sit with Bennet. Then it was the boys turn while Bennet got his afternoon meal and Bethany had some chicken fingers.
Although we only live less than 30 miles from Disney World, we opted to get a hotel room for two nights, thinking we would want to go back and forth from the parks to a hotel when Bennet tired. It turned out we spent both days at the parks without a break but it was still nice to not have a lenghty drive home in traffic each night and back in the morning. We ate at the food court and then Alex and Bethany took Bennet to the pool.
Our breakfast this morning was at Crystal Palace in the Magic Kingdom. Bennet was all the rage with Pooh and his friends and Bethany got her Mickey Mouse churro waffles and we all filled up for a day in the parks.
Alex and Bethany took the bus to Magic Kingdom as Bennet does not like car rides while Janie and J. R. drove so we would have a car close if we needed it. We met them on Main Street for photos and then, just like his father, Bennet's first ride at Disney World was Dumbo, The Flying Elephant. He didn't take to it at first but soon had a little smile on his face. J. R. had purchased Lightning Lane passes for Pirates of the Caribbean and Peter Pan to avoid the lines and Haunted Mansion popped up later in the day so we were able to avoid a lot of long lines with Bennet.
We finished our ride day by riding Tron in pairs using Lightning Lane. Alex and Bethany went first while Janie and J. R. watched Bennet. He was happy and content at first but the line was longer than expected and he started getting hungry so J. R. walked him around for a while. He calmed for a bit but then went into full scream mode until he saw Mommy and calmed down. Janie and J. R. rode next while Bennet was fed.
Our day closed out on Main Street as we picked up Bennet's Mickey Ears. The kids stayed to get some additional photos while the adults headed back to the hotel in the car.
It was an early morning check-out from All Star Music. Someone had left a luggage cart near our room, so Alex and J. R. took advantage of that to carry all of Bennet's stuff down and pack up the car and then it was off to the Contemporary Resort for Chef Mickey's breakfast, one of Alex's favorites as a child. Bennet got a lot of attention from Mickey, Minnie, Pluto and Goofy.
J. R. and Janie already had plans for the day at Epic Universe and since there wasn't much there for a baby, Alex and Bethany got a reservation at 'Ohana so Bennet could meet Lilo and Stitch. They rode the monorail, had Dole Whip and spent some time at Disney Springs.
The rest of our week with Alex, Bethany and Bennet was spent at our home in Kissimmee. Alex enjoyed a trip to Giordano's with us for a taste of our Chicago home and we took Bennet to the Palms pool as he loves the water and had sushi at one of our favorite local places.
