New Year's Eve was another full day for us, which began by heading back to Walt Disney World, this time to visit EPCOT Center. Janie had been here before, but EPCOT had not been open the last time J. R. was in Orlando. We began our day at Earth Station at the base of Spaceship Earth, making reservations using the WorldKey service terminals for our planned lunch at Chefs de France. We then hit all the major attractions in Future World: Spaceship Earth, Universe of Energy, Wonders of Life (Body Wars and Cranium Command), Horizons, World of Motion, Journey into Imagination and Captain EO, the Land and the Living Seas. We had a late lunch in Paris, wandered the World Showcase, taking in Maelstrom and El Rio de Tiempo before heading back to our car. We spent a little bit of time touring the new hotels, the Swan and Dolphin and Yacht and Beach Club, which had all recently opened.
Part of our package included New Year's Eve at Sea World, so we drove there next. The place was filled with Georgia Tech fans (and a few Nebraska fans, including one guy in red pants and a big red cowboy hat). We saw Clyde and Seamore in 1,000,000 BC, the Dolphin Show and the nightly Shamu show. But the highlight of the evening was the incredible fireworks show over the lagoon area which was the perfect ending to 1990 and beginning to 1991 for us.
