We checked out of the Hyatt early in the morning and went down to Avis to pick up a rental car for our revised extra day in Orlando visiting Sea World. We went off in search of a Chick-Fil-A and "little chicken biscuits" for breakfast, but couldn't find one so had breakfast at McDonald's instead. This proved to be a mistake as Thomas was not feeling well and got sick in the car on the way to Sea World. But he recovered and we started our day at Sea World with the Sea Lion show, which was always a lot of fun.
After the sea lions, we went to visit the penguins.
After the walk-through of the penguin exhibit, we forced the kids to feed the dolphins. Alex was fine with it but Thomas and Rebecca both found the fish to be 'icky'.
When the kids had washed their hands, it was time to visit, 'oh the huge manatees'.
The skies were starting to darken but first we had a date with some rays.
The rains came down in force after our visit to the rays but we had a late lunch reservation and Sharks Underwater Grill so we had to sprint through the storms since we were hungry. By the time we got to the restaurant, we were soaking wet.
Our first try at the Shamu show was rained out so we found a few more indoor exhibits and then got in line for the Wild Arctic ride as massive thunderstorms rolled through and the power went out. We waited awhile but knowing the Shamu show was not going to take place, we decided to call it a day and head to the Hilton hotel we had booked for the night.
We checked out early the next morning and headed to the airport where we had a short flight to Miami. We arrived in Miami with no issues and then boarded our plane back to Chicago. We were packed in the back of the plane and the air conditioning was not working and we were all sweltering. The plane had an electrical problem and American Airlines cancelled the flight. J. R. got on the phone and got us rebooked for later in the day and since he was an Admiral's Club member, we headed to the club to wait for our next flight.
