Our first day was spent at sea. We spent the day lounging around on deck, reading and listening to music while the kids spent some time in the pool. The seas were a little rough on our way south, which made us all look like drunken sailors.
At 10, we watched one of the pastry chefs make a chocolate mousse, paired with a light wine, which we enjoyed.
At 1:00, the adults did a Stem to Stern wine tasting, where we sampled six wines and were instructed on how to sniff and taste them to detect the various notes. J. R. thought they all smelled like alcohol and couldn't find all the fruits and nuts the instructor did. The six wines were a Selbach, a French Burgundy, an Argentian white, an Australian Merlot, a Chilean Merlot and, our favorite, Rosa Regale, a sparkling red wine.
The show tonight was the Golden Mickeys, which was a show pretending to be an awards show where they performed selected scenes from various Disney movies. It was cute and a good show for a formal night. It was formal night, so we donned our best formal wear for our formal dinner in Animator's Palate. Well, we actually kept it lower-key this cruise. J. R. didn't bother renting a tuxedo and just went with a suit and tie. Alex made use of his tuxedo shirt and bow tie from his band concert uniform along with a suit jacket while the ladies donned fancy dresses.
