After a night in a hotel to recharge our batteries and a quick Hyatt Place breakfast, we walked next door from the hotel to the UC Davis visitor center for our tour of the University of California at Davis, a smaller engineering school in the California system. We had as our tour guide, the most excited tour guide ever, who spoke ten million words a minute, such as "over here there is a coffee shop, it's not Starbucks, but they serve Starbucks coffee, and not everyone likes Starbucks, but I like Starbucks, so if you like Starbucks, there's a place where you can get Starbucks coffee" and, our favorite, when discussing clubs on campus, "they have a therapy dog program where you get to come in, I guess, and pet dogs to relieve stress. I've never done it so I don't know how it works. I don't know if you have to bring your own dog or they provide dogs, but if you come to Davis, maybe you can go do the therapy dog program and you can come back and tell me how it works". The tour didn't put off Thomas as he added Davis to his list of college choices.
