Morning on the Majesty

J. R. awoke early and took a walk around the ship and had breakfast and a coffee from Starbucks while Janie slept in our small cabin. Eventually she woke and headed upstairs for breakfast while J. R. kept her company with another cup of coffee. Our excursion wasn't scheduled until the afternoon, so we had some time to sit in the sun on the deck and enjoy the ship and have another drink or two.

Pearl Island, Bahamas

Around noon, we embarked in Nassau and exited the ship and waited in the hot sun for our excursion. It took a long time to get everyone together, and we were further delayed by one passenger who decided to go into town to get her passport stamped, even though it meant holding everyone up. Then when she and her dog arrived, she had to go to the bathroom, further delaying our sailing. (Yet she was the first one to push her way off the ship to go claim a lounger by the ocean.) But soon we were off on a boat ride to Pearl Island. We had visited Atlantis many times and decided to do something different this time. We looked at just going to the beach ourselves but settled on an excursion. We second-guessed ourselves the day before, thinking we should have just enjoyed the ship. But we were very pleased when we got to the island. We found a place to sit by the ocean and then enjoyed some ribs and fish and chicken (and rum punch). We both took time to climb to the top of the lighthouse and look out at the ocean and then just sat in our loungers and got sunburned (because our sunscreen did not seem to be very effective, despite being brand new).

Not Even Close to Elton

We took the boat back to Nassau and got a little harbor tour from the guides on the way back, telling us about all of the famous people who had bought houses along the shore. Upon returning, we reboarded the ship and headed to the bar for a little more day drinking. We decided to attend the performance of "Almost Elton John" in the Chorus Line theater, which was a huge mistake. The guy sounded nothing like Elton John at all and mumbled through most of the songs. We had never seen so many people leave a show. We hung out a little longer than most because we thought he was getting better, but finally had enough and went to have another drink before dinner. We headed to Bolero's which had the best bartenders on the ship for a drink before dinner. At dinner, we discussed the show with our tablemates and learned we stayed longer than any of them had.
