We had chosen to do Royal's Express Walk-off, which meant taking our own bags off the ship. So after breakfast in Windjammer, we gathered our stuff and headed to deck 4. There was a short line, but we were quickly off the ship. We unfortunately witnessed a man carrying his small child stumble and drop the child, and the poor kid fell backwards on his head. The noise was quite disturbing. Even worse was the woman he was with, presumably the mother, who began berating the guy. As if he planned to trip and drop the child. Even worse, he had a backpack on his back and she was carrying nothing. There was no line for customs and we were quickly in line for the Avis shuttle. The shuttle arrived in mere minutes and we picked up a Chevy Cruze and drove back to Orlando.
Since we had a long wait for our plane, we went to Universal CityWalk. Unfortunately our quick exit from the ship meant we arrived right at Universal opening, so there were long lines for parking and security. Universal security is horrid. You have to put your wallets and cellphones through x-ray machines. J. R. was held up by someone needing to be wanded and it felt like one of those situations where it was being done on purpose to try to steal items. But we kept a good eye on the items coming out and were able to claim everything without incident.
There is very little shopping at CityWalk, but we found a few Harry Potter items at the Universal store and Becca found an Avengers lanyard. We had a noon lunch reservation at Cowfish but went over early at 11AM and were seated immediately. We had the crab rangoon dip, which was excellent and edamame for appetizers. J. R. and Thomas went for the Doug's Filet Roll and All-American Bacon Double Cheeseburgooshi rolls respectively, which are a fusion of burgers and sushi. Becca surprised us by getting Dion's OMG! maki roll (tempura coconut shrimp, kani, English cucumber, topped with fresh mango, avocado, honey marmalade and coconut flakes) because all she talked about when we said we were going to Cowfish was getting the "Cowfish has officially left the building" burger. That burger has peanut butter and fried banana on it, along with bacon. Janie opted for the berry and brie burger and Alex the southwest burger.
The plan was to have dessert at the Toothsome Chocolate Emporium, so we headed there next. But only Thomas and Rebecca still had room for dessert, so they ordered brownie sundaes while the rest of us watched.
We took a walk over to the Royal Pacific hotel and sat around the lobby for awhile. Rebecca took a short nap while the rest of us made use of Wi-Fi to catch up on the world. Then it was back to CityWalk to pick up the car and drive back to the airport.
Alex and Thomas were flying back to Atlanta on Delta (with Alex connecting on to San Antonio) while the rest of us were on our way to Chicago on United via Washington, D.C. So we ended up saying good-bye at check-in and got on our planes to home.
