Birthday in Music City

After barbecue, we continued on our drive to Nashville, checking into our hotel near Vanderbilt. J. R. went out for a quick walk to Rite Aid for some candy and drinks for his birthday. Janie had dinner planned at the Midtown Cafe, a local restaurant she had found online that had good reviews. The food was okay, but the shrimp and grits had little flavor.

Breakfast was in the hotel, including waffles with a tiny guitar.

Vanderbilt University

We drove to the Barnes & Noble at Vanderbilt to park our car and spent some time browsing the bookstore before walking over to the information session. The Vandy session was really useful and the tour was well organized. The guides were informative and funny and covered all aspects of University life. Becca walked away with a great impression. The only downside was how close the school was to the city.

We went back to the bookstore for Becca to buy a t-shirt and then started on our next drive towards Alabama. We stopped at a J. Alexander's restaurant for lunch on our way out of town.
