We had our first day at sea aboard the Apex on Monday. J. R. started off with breakfast at the buffet and a walk around the ship and then when Janie awoke, he joined her in the Contemporary restaurant so she could have breakfast while he had some more coffee. Then we headed to Eden for dot painting. J. R. made an elephant in honor of Rebecca. After that, we went to The Club for their Escape Room challenge. Since they couldn't lock us into a room, they had a series of challenges using puzzle boxes. Our team did pretty well opening the boxes but missed using some of the clues in them to find out the date.
Afternoon was spent hanging out on the ship. We spent a little time in the Solarium but it was very hot so we had lunch in the buffet and spent some time in Eden and the Martini Bar. We were given a wine tasting as part of our Drinks and More package so we learned about, and tasted, some Oregon wines.
The evening show was called "Tree of Life" featuring the Celebrity singers and dancers. This was their final show as they were ending their contract. The show was really good, although like most Celebrity shows, they don't make a lot of sense.
With a short cruise, we only did one specialty dining restaurant, opting to have dinner in Eden. The dinner was good but marred by a loud table nearby with a woman complaining about the wines she was being offered and claiming that "no one wants to be here" in reference to the employees. This had not been our experience as all of the staff had been incredible so far. The wine steward was the woman who had taught our wine tasting that day and she was very interested in helping Janie choose a wine.
We went up on deck and had a drink waiting for the 80's Flashback dance but shortly after it began, it started to rain. So we headed down to The Club to listen to the music there before turning in for the night.
