We returned to Belize for the second time but after thoroughly enjoying our excursion last time, this time the excursion widely missed the mark. We were not informed that the speedboat ride would be over 50 minutes each way. Caye Caulker Island was touted as having numerous restaurants, bars and quaint shopping but it was mostly small stalls selling dubious 'local' merchandise and dive bars. We were sold on 'white sandy beaches under shade of coconut trees' and got broken down, paint peeling chairs on a concrete pier covered in a light layer of sand. The Lazy Lizard bar and restaurant had poor service. We were told we could sit wherever we wanted and then were forced to move as they reserved areas for other excursions. J. R. tried to order food at the bar and was told to go sit down and wait for someone to come and take his order. He flagged down a waitress and it took forever to get the food and then it was not very good. When we walked through the open Solarium on our way to the meeting place, we had thought about skipping the excursion and wished we had. Two other couples we met later at the bar had the same opinion of the excursion as we did. J. R. talked to the Shore Excursions desk and they said they had a similar complaint but we doubt the cruise line will make any changes.
After showering and changing, we headed upstairs for a burger and hot dog and then to the Martini Bar for drinks. We went to Ed Regine's comedy show, which was funny, but many of his bits were old jokes we had heard before, to the point we were saying the punchlines before he delivered them. It was lobster night in main dining and the lobster was very good. It is still disappointing Celebrity only provides one small lobster tail and makes you purchase a second. We had past cruises where the waiter would just bring out two, saying 'they looked small, so I brought two'. We understand some people might have ordered way more than two, but one small tail seems to too little. We got in line early to get good seats for the special production show, Elyria, which is a more adult show with adult innuendo and more risque costumes. It reminded us of a tamed-down version of Absinthe which we had seen in Vegas. But it was a really good production. With no interest in the Latin Fiesta, we grabbed a drink after the show and relaxed.
