SEA Thermal Suite

Xcel would not be arriving into St. Thomas until mid-day, which meant we had time for a quick lunch and then some time in the SEA Thermal Suite this morning.

Theater Experience

The Captain's Club Theater Experience was scheduled for 10:00 so we changed and went down to the theater where Anne, the dance captain, and Giovanni, the theater technical manager, answered questions and took us backstage. We ran into a few rude guests on this cruise and J. R. had fun with one in particular who sat down beside him despite there being 1000 empty seats in the theater and then kept trying to push J. R's arm off the armrest. J. R. did not budge and the guy moved after a bit, taking his wife with him. We guess he thought he would show his dominance and make us move so he could be closer to the stage. The group for this event was too large. It was supposed to be RSVP but no one checked reservations and it was open to all Captain's Club levels. They needed a third person to support the event. The backstage was the same as the other Edge class ships although Anne said there were a lot more props in these shows so the space felt tighter.

Afternoon on the Xcel

We were hanging out in the Solarium and we both agreed we really were not interested in leaving the ship for our planned "Destination Highlight: Secret Sands Beach Exclusive and Skyline Drive" excursion after spending most of yesterday on a bus. J. R. called Guest Services as a courtesy to tell them we would not be attending and they didn't seem to care and told him to go down to the Ship Excursions desk. J. R. said he was just calling as a courtesy and GS could pass the message along. We went back to the Spa area to relax with virtually no one there.

After the spa, we went to Craft Social for another smoked Old Fashioned and then the Martini Bar before going back to IYKYK, which was one of our favorite places on the ship.

Chapters

Dinner was much better tonight. We both chose the Chef's special, which was lasagna, and it was very good. The people at the next table who saw it decided it was the right choice as well. The show tonight was Chapters with the production cast. The description was "Enter a world where nature breathes and stories bloom. Every chapter a reflection of growth, of change, of life. It's not just a show, it's an experience. It's about you. It's about me. It's about us." As usual, neither the description or the show made much sense but it was fun to watch. We had front row seats and one of the performers pulled Janie up to dance with him and take a polaroid selfie.

Saddle Up Saloon

After another drink in IYKYK, we attended the country party at the Saddle Up Saloon where we danced for the first time since Janie broke her ankle in March on the Silhouette. They had a live band playing country music but spent too much time trying to play line dance songs which no one knew instead of either doing simple ones like Achy Breaky Heart or just playing the music.
