The Destiny pulled into Disney's second private 'island', Lookut Cay at Lighthouse Point on the southernmost tip of Eleuthera. We got off the ship right at 9AM and made the long, long, long 0.6 mile walk down the pier to the tram stop. We boarded the first tram, then had to wait as they pulled another tram in front of ours, loaded it with people, and then it left before ours did, which did not make sense. We walked down to this location's version of Serenity Bay and found two loungers with an umbrella. Janie got some sodas at the dining pavillion then headed into the water. Bar staff came by and J. R. ordered a pair of Konk Koolers with double shot of rum which took a while to be delivered, but were very delicious.
Janie spent too much time in the water and ended up with a red face to show for it and we relaxed in our chairs until lunch time. We had burgers, hot dogs and BBQ chicken at the dining area and then went back to our chairs until around 1PM when we called it a day and made the long trek back to the Destiny.
Janie was able to see her favorite character, Maleficient, in the grand foyer after we had showered and changed and headed back downstairs. The only bar open was the outside part of De Vil's so we sat down there for a drink. J. R. ordered 'The Henchmen' with Camus VSOP, Bushmills, Orgeat Lime and Bitters and Janie opted for the 'Love Bubbles' cocktail with Angels Envy Single Barrel 'High Seas Edition', Strawberry, Lemon and Pommery Brut Royal. They served these with a side of sugar cookie 'dog biscuits'.
We did the adult-only 'Oceans' trivia which was very difficult, but also funny as most of the people didn't know the answers. If Janie had guessed the magic number was 3 instead of using 4 for her guesses, we would have tied for first, though. She did get the bonus question right (how deep is the Mariana Trench) and won us a couple of Winner medallions for our trouble.
We went down to the Sanctum and found a place to sit and we ordered a couple of drinks.
As Janie finished her drink, J. R. went to stand in line for the evening show, Hercules. While it was an enjoyable show, it was another Disney retelling of the movie complete with the same songs. It had us longing for Hercules, the Muse-ical that they used to have on the legacy ships when we first started sailing, which was much more humorous. The only real laugh for us of the night was when Hades was introducing the cast at the end and called out for Pain and Panic and the two actors who were dressed in their townspeople costumes stepped forward and he sighed 'ugh, double casting'.
Dinner tonight was in Worlds of Marvel. It got off to a rocky start as we told the maitre'd our table number and he directed us to the left side of the restaurant but none of the staff standing around escorted us to our table so we had to find it ourselves. Dinner service was much improved, so much so we were left to wonder if there was more show to come after we finished dessert. The show with brief appearances by Rocket and Groot was much less elaborate and less enjoyable than the one on the Wish with Ant-Man, who appeared live in the restaurant. The Wish version felt like a full-scale Marvel storyline as opposed to cameos on screen. The on-screen trivia game was distracting while trying to eat.
We headed to De Vil's after dinner to listen to the piano player and catch the evening show. This area is touted by Disney as 'A Wickedly Good Time - Sway to the swingin' tunes of a black-and-white-spotted piano while sipping a devilishly delicious drink. Choose from a tempting selection of trendy martinis, an array of elegant wines and high-end bubblies. Designer drinks come with creative trimmings and stylish touches that perfectly capture Cruella's extravagant spirit. Located near the Grand Hall, De Vil's exudes the bold personality and dramatic flair of its over-the-top namesake. Every detail of this glamorous piano bar, from the signature red, black and white color palette to the dazzling design elements, whispers Cruella's infamous style and wickedly bold attitude. Be on the lookout for clever design nods to the fashionista's infamous escapades, including Cruella herself, who appears in the wall behind the piano thanks to the magic of invisible fiber optics.'
We had our worst experience in this bar. The earlier bartender told us we could order the Zero-Proof Sir Galahad with real bourbon so J. R. ordered that and the waitress brought it over in the $100 glass pipe. He told her he didn't want the drink in a pipe (having tried to drink out of one at another bar and not enjoying the experiene) and could she just pour the drink into a regular glass and she argued with him about doing so. He told her to take the drink back and she argued about that until the other bartender stepped in and said she would serve it in a glass. Not sure what the first bartender did not understand.
The Cruella show was cute. The traveling storytellers returned as the piano man played 'Cruella de Vil' and she stormed in and complained about the song and ordered the storytellers to write a new one. They took suggestions from the audience to create a positive song about Ms. De Vil.
We tried our hand at 2000's music trivia with 'Beyonce' but were fairly rubbish at it. The best part was the host calling up her colleague and asking her to dance along with the songs as she revealed the answers. After that since we were not able to see much of the Marvel area while crowded in waiting for dinner so we took some time to explore that part of the ship while waiting for our evening drink tasting.
Our World of Old Fashioned tasting was in Hook's Barbery, which was a hair cuttery and seemingly an odd choice for a tasting. Turns out that from 5 to 8 every night, the front of the barbershop is a speakeasy fronted by bartender Abhi, who also did our tasting. We had missed this area completely on the Wish, but since that as only a three-day cruise, there was probably a lot we missed. Abhi took us through the history of the Old Fashioned and served us five cocktails with premium spirits.
