Epcot

Hello again, everyone. I took a little nap, had Mommy feed me a bottle, and now I am back to tell you about our first full day at WDW. I was a little anxious to get going on this day, so I woke Mommy and Daddy up at 5 a.m. They grumbled a little (okay, a lot), then got me a bottle, woke up my brothers and we headed over to some place called Epcot.

First, let me tell you it was very hot in Florida. I was born in Illinois, so I thought the sun had come out of the sky and landed on us. Mommy and Daddy used to live in Birmingham and Atlanta, so they said this was normal for Florida in July. Mommy had bought me a little fan at Wal-Mart before we left to keep me cool. Daddy kept stealing it to blow air on himself. They put me in my stroller, which had a cover that completely covered me to keep me out of the sun. And they made me wear my stupid hat, which I hate and kept trying to get off my head anytime I could.

Our first stop at Epcot was Guest Relations, since Mommy and Daddy wanted to buy annual passes. We got to Guest Relations at 8:45 and didn't get into the park until 9:30. Daddy was complaining about how he must have broken a mirror under a ladder in front of a cat or something because of the luck we were having. First, the cast member had to call to get authorization for the credit card charge because of the amount. Then she printed the tickets and they had somebody else's name on them. Then she tried it again and the same thing happened. So she started over. And then she misspelled our last name and had to do it one more time! Daddy was getting frustrated and was about to suggest the cast member get Hooked on Phonics or something since she couldn't read his driver's license. But he surprisingly kept his cool (we were on vacation, after all), and we finally got our tickets. The cast member apologized and gave us passes for Test Track so we wouldn't have to stand in line.

A woman under a tent wanted to check to see what was in my baby bag, so we had to stand in line for her to look in it. I wanted to tell her to keep her nosy hands to herself, but I'm just a baby and can't talk, so I didn't say anything. It didn't take very long, and she cooed at me, so I was contented and smiled at her. Then we went into Epcot. There is this big golf ball just inside the entrance. It is so big even Daddy couldn't miss hitting it -- and Daddy's a bad golfer. Thomas wanted to go up inside it, but there was a long line, so Mommy suggested we go see Fragment. Or was it Figment? I can't remember, but, hey, I'm only a baby.

We walked right onto the Figment ride with no waiting. First and last time that happened on this trip. There was this funny looking dragon-like creature on the television with some grumpy old man. I think the old man was mad at the dragon. We sat down in these ride cars and I was looking all around at all the pretty lights and cool sounds. There was one room with pretty pictures, and another one that smelled like my diaper pail. Then we went into this room and the lights went out and there was this big boom that made me cry. Mommy and Daddy couldn't stop laughing. We'll see how funny they think it is at 3 a.m. But the next room had more pretty lights and colors and I calmed down.

We came out of this ride and went and stood in line for some movie about a guy shrinking everything. I was concerned, since I am only 24" tall already and can't afford to be shrunk anymore. Everybody put on these funny glasses and spent the whole movie jumping and squirming around like things were coming at them or something. All I saw was pictures on the screen. The glasses must make everyone crazy.

After that, we decided to go inside for awhile and we toured this place called Innoventions. There were lots of cool toys in there. My brothers played some video games while I watched and then we saw this talking dog and watched some TV show about space. My brothers thought it was all really cool. My Daddy showed me some of the stuff his company was working on at their display, although he told me he doesn't work on anything cool. Figures.

Thomas really wanted to go into the ball, and the lines had died down, so we went inside. On this ride, there are a bunch of people acting out a bunch of scenes from the past. When you get to the top, you turn around and come back down. Some man was talking the whole time right behind Daddy's head about communications and writing and stuff. I was surprised Daddy didn't tell him to shut up.

We left the ball and wandered through a store before heading to Mexico. I had no idea Mexico was so close to Florida. I had to leave my carseat and stroller outside again, so Daddy carried me through this pyramid thing with a big volcano in the back. We went on a ride that Alex called "Pirates of It's A Small World". I don't think that's the real name. It was all about Mexico (go figure). The last part was really cool because they had fireworks on the ceiling. I giggled at those.

By now, it was time for lunch. We went to Norway for lunch. Now, even I know Norway is nowhere near Mexico or Florida. This Disney World place must have that teleportation thing too. I checked out the buffet, but settled for a bottle instead. Mommy and Daddy ate food like meatballs and salmon and cabbage and stuff. Thomas and Alex got exotic food -- macaroni and cheese and peanut butter and jelly. Mommy made fun of them for not wanting to try anything different. Then dessert came. Mommy, Daddy and Thomas each got this dessert with a big chocolate Sorcerer's Mickey hat on it (which looked like the one at Disney Studios, which I hadn't seen yet, so I didn't understand, but that's what Thomas told me) and a pair of ears shaped like viking horns. I kept staring at it hoping someone would give me a bite, but Mommy won't let me have any sweets until I am at least one year old. She'll hear about this at 3 a.m. as well.

Alex was the oddball, as usual, and got a cookie shaped like a troll. Then he had to paint clothes on the troll before he could eat it. Then he ate it, the paints, and the little buckets of paint on his plate as well. Weird. I assume the paints were frosting and the buckets were chocolate. Luckily, Daddy stopped him before he tried to eat the paintbrush.

Alex and Thomas were begging to go on this Test Track ride, so Daddy and Mommy took us over. I waited with Daddy and Thomas while Mommy and Alex rode, then waited with Mommy and Alex while Daddy and Thomas rode. Thomas told me this was one of his favorite rides, where you get in a car, go over a bunch of bumpy roads, slam on the brakes really hard and then drive over 90 mph. The Disney people said I was too small to ride, but I didn't understand, because that ride sounds like driving home from day care with Daddy every night.

We left Epcot after that and drove back to our hotel. Daddy found the hotel manager and arranged to be moved from the Courtyard over to the Springhill Suites, where we were supposed to be. This was a much larger room, with two double beds, a pull-out sofa, a small refrigerator, microwave and sink, plus two televisions. Daddy was much happier with this room and the hotel gave us a $50 credit for the night in the other hotel.

After settling in, we changed into our swimsuits and went to a place called Typhoon Lagoon. They have this pool there with really, really big waves that knock you around. Daddy sat with me in the back of the pool, since he doesn't swim much. There was no water there, so I didn't understand why we were sitting there. Then there was this big crash and the water came and splashed all around us. That was funny and I laughed. Thomas tried to stand up during the waves and they knocked him over and he would float back to us. I wanted to take a nap after that, so Daddy put me in the stroller and we went to sit in a shady spot while Mommy and Alex and Thomas rode on a family raft ride and did some water slides. Then we went to the kiddie area, where the boys did the water slides and played on this boat shooting water at people while I sat in the water with Mommy.

We stayed at Typhoon Lagoon until it closed, and then went to get dinner. We ate at Landry's Seafood House near our hotel. Mommy and Daddy said the food was very good. We were all pretty tired then, so we went back to the hotel and went to bed. Tomorrow, we are going to the Magic Kingdom. Maybe there I will find out about this teleportation thing.
