Chef Mickey's

Hi, everyone, it's me, Rebecca again. Sorry I didn't write up anything yesterday -- I had a lot to do, you know, playing with my toes, hitting around my mobile, etc. A baby's life can be very busy. But I have a few minutes before day care, so let me try to get through Day 2.

I woke Daddy up at 4 a.m., because I was very anxious to get to the Magic Kingdom and see Mickey Mouse. Daddy was less anxious and pulled me into the sofa bed with him until the alarm went off at 6. (Mommy and Daddy take turns each night taking care of me. I usually sleep through the night, but the portable crib in this hotel isn't as comfy as my mattress back home, so I was a little restless). We all got up, got dressed and packed and headed over to the Contemporary Hotel for breakfast at Chef Mickey's.

For those of you thinking about cheating WDW parking and parking at the Contemporary and taking the monorail, that won't work. They checked our name off a list at the front gate and gave us a three-hour parking permit for the hotel. We went into the hotel and got our pictures taken at Chef Mickey's and had breakfast. The food looked really good. My brothers had sausage and bacon and mouse-shaped waffles and Disney cereal. Mommy and Daddy has omelettes and bacon and stuff. Looked yummy -- I can't wait to try it in the future when I am eating real food. Pluto came by and played with me for a while and put his hand on my brother's head and goofed with him. We also saw Minnie Mouse. Goofy didn't come to our table, but we saw him on the way out. He made Alex take a banana before he would let him get a donut. Daddy managed to sneak by and get donuts without any fruit, though.

The Magic Kingdom

After breakfast, it was off the Magic Kingdom. We drove to the parking lot, and there Mommy and Daddy realized the first hassle of bringing our own stroller -- the dreaded WDW tram! At Epcot, we were parked close enough that we walked to the park. You can't do that at Magic Kingdom. So Daddy had to take my car seat off the stroller and put me on a seat while Mommy folded the stroller and shoved it onto the tram -- it barely fit between the seat and the back of the next seat. She also had to wrangle my baby bag and our backpack since my brothers were too interested in getting on the tram to help -- typical boys.

When we got to the TTC, we decided to take the boat across the lagoon, since it would be easier to get a stroller on there then the monorail. There was already a good crowd and everyone was pushing their way onto the boat. I didn't understand it, since there was plenty of room on the boat for everyone. They ought to explain that to people. Mommy and I got separated from Daddy and the boys, but we met up on the boat and we were off across the lagoon. Thomas was upset because he wanted to ride the monorail. Mommy promised him we would ride it on the way back.

At WDW, Mommy took the boys through security with the bags while Daddy took me through the entrance gates and we met up under the railroad. We headed off to Adventureland. I was ready for my bottle, so Daddy took Thomas and Alex on Aladdin while Mommy fed me. I watched as they went up and down and got sprayed by a camel. That was funny. When they were finished, Mommy suggested they go on the Jungle Cruise while I finished my bottle. Thomas didn't want to go, but Daddy convinced him it wasn't scary. The line said 5 minutes, but it took them almost 40 to come back to us.

I was done eating now, so we headed to see the Pirates of the Caribbean. We parked my stroller and Daddy carried me onto the ride. The first part was really dark and I was getting scared and fidgety, but then it got bright and the pirates started singing and I calmed down and watched the ride. We finished that, got back in the stroller and headed over to Splash Mountain. To my surprise, Thomas saw the drop and wanted to ride it (he never had before and usually is scared of new rides). The line was long, but it said 40 minute wait, so Mommy decided to stand in line with the boys. Daddy said he'd take me back to the Baby Care center and cool off and change me. So that was the last I saw of them for over an hour.

The Baby Care center was nice. They had a TV playing cartoons and a nice lady there talked to me and Daddy while we sat. If you are coming with a baby, you need to make use of these places at each of the parks. They are a great place to cool off and a comfortable place to be changed and fed. After awhile, Daddy took me back outside and we sat in the shade and listened to the Cinderella show at the castle. The music was good and Daddy held me and played with me while we waited. Mommy and the boys finally came back. The ride had broken down twice while they were in line. They were hot and tired, so Daddy gave Mommy some money for ice cream and we went off to the Tomorrowland Terrace to sit. The boys got an upside-down cone from the ice cream shop on Main Street and we all sat and cooled off.

I was getting hungry seeing them eating their ice cream, so Mommy suggested we go on the People Mover while I ate. Daddy picked up FastPasses for Buzz Lightyear and they we rode the TTC twice around Tomorrowland. Alex wanted to ride Space Mountain, but Mommy suggested we wait until we came back later in the week. We walked through some gift shops while waiting for our FP time, then rode Buzz. Daddy was funny trying to hold me and shoot at the same time. I was looking all around trying to figure out why Alex kept spinning the car away from the targets. Apparently, being left-handed messed him up, or so he said. He only scored 600 points, but Daddy managed 16000, even while holding me in one hand.

We were done with MK after this and headed back to the hotel. Mommy and Daddy decided I had been out in the sun enough for one day, so Daddy said he'd stay in the hotel with me, while Mommy and the boys went to Blizzard Beach. Daddy and I took a nap while the boys played in the pool, and rode the family raft ride and a tube slide. Mommy was tired when she came back from walking up the mountain to the slides (she hates skylifts, so she didn't use it, besides it was broken down, she said, the first time they walked up).

They came back around 5 because it had started to rain, and we dressed to go have lunch in France. I couldn't figure out how we would make it to France by 7:30 from Florida, especially since Daddy insisted on driving to Epcot instead of the airport. We once again got a good parking space and didn't have to take the tram. Bag check took a long time this time, though, as the guy insisted on moving everything around and checking every pocket of my baby bag. Usually, they just glanced in and let us go. I don't know what he expected I would have in there. I should've left a dirty diaper for him to inspect.

Alex was trying to convince his brother we were actually going to France as we walked to the back of the park. By the time we got there, they both were insisting we were really in France. Boy, am I confused. The rain had passed, but Daddy covered my stroller with one of our ponchos just in case and we went into Chefs de France for dinner. Mommy had a glass of wine to relax and then ordered dinner. I think she had pork or chicken, but I don't remember. Daddy had steak. The boys remained adventurous and had hot dogs and hamburgers. Daddy made Alex order his dinner "en francais", and with some help from the waiter, he managed to successfully mangle the French language enough to get a burger.

After dinner, we walked around the World awhile then found a bench to walk Illuminations. This was a really cool show -- they had fire on the water that made it feel really warm and then a lot of lights and fireworks. I giggled and laughed at the fireworks. Mommy thought I'd be afraid of them like Alex was when he was little at MK, but I wasn't. We walked back to the car after the show and went to the hotel to bed. Tomorrow we go to the Disney Studios.
