For Cozumel, we had booked a beach day since there was no 'private island' visit as we had on our Disney cruises. We had another early-morning wake-up call and buffet trip then headed off this time to the theatre to be called for our excursion, which was much more relaxing than the other excursion trips. We led off the ship and met up with our catamaran host for a boat ride to the island. We were incredibly impressed with this excursion as the island was exclusive for cruise ship passengers that day and as we were the early excursion, we were able to find a couple of hammocks and loungers. The kids headed to the ocean while Janie and J. R. relaxed and read books and listened to music. The drinks on the island were included so we had a couple of cervezas and margaritas as well as a buffet lunch that was very delicious with lots of choices.
After returning to the ship, we decided to try out the bowling alley. The price was rather steep, part of NCL's general 'nickel-and-dime' philosophy where everything required an upcharge. Seven dollars for one game of bowling and shoe rental is about what we pay on land. The alleys weren't great as there was some sort of a hump right before the pins that would cause the ball to jump in the air, but we still enjoyed our traditional game of bowling.
