We had to take a break from our Disney days for the real purpose of this trip to Florida, our design meeting at Solivita. We drove down on Friday to walk through the models as they had recommended, but we were not given much time to see all of the models, and it was not that helpful as most of the options in the models would not available to us.
We had lunch at the golf club and walked around for awhile before visiting our lot.
We were less than impressed with our 'designer' as he provided very little design input. So we started with our cabinets, and after a few changes of mind, we arrived at a kitchen design.
Our cabinets drove our flooring decision. We were between two shades of gray wood plank flooring and finally settled on the slightly lighter one.
Countertops proved to be the most difficult choice. Our options were very limited. We wanted dark countertops like in our Chicago house but the only option was one black granite. There was an LG Viatera we had almost chosen in Chicago and hoped we could use it, but despite Viatera being a design option, they only allowed a few selections.
Tile was a little easier although we went back and forth on the style for the master shower.
We were happy that we could get a cast iron sink similar to the one we had installed in Chicago and it was the apron front we wanted when we redid our kitchen, but couldn't get without replacing cabinets.
Faucet choices were limited so we stayed with the basic selection.
We had already picked our appliances after visiting some stores in Chicago so this part was very easy.
Despite the limited options and lack of design help, we arrived at a selection we could live with and be happy about in our new home.
