We said goodbye to Rebecca as she would leaving for Boston while we were away and loaded up the car for our trip to the airport. As it was the first day of school for many Orlando students, the roads were more crowded than usual so we were glad we got an earlier start. We parked the car at FastPark and the shuttle driver was nice enough to back up and wait for us so it was a quick trip to the terminal. The priority lane was fairly long and then the representative said we did not have seat assignments and were on standby for our flight to Charlotte. We went through security and stopped at the Special Services desk and they said the rep was wrong and we had seat assignments but she had not checked us in for the first flight. She took care of the issue and gave us our boarding cards and we went to the Admiral's Club to hang out before our flight left.
The flight to Charlotte was uneventful and we arrived on time and did not have to run the whole airport like last time we flew into there. We went to the smaller Club on concourse B and then boarded our overnight flight to Dublin. Neither of us slept very well so we were tired when we arrived in Ireland. We walked to terminal 1 but it was too early to check in for our Ryan Air flight to Edinburgh so we had a Diet Coke and Starbucks mocha in the food court. Once baggage check opened, we tagged our bags and headed through Fast Track security and then waited at the gate for our plane. Boarding was chaotic as they did not have defined lanes for priority and non-priority. Ryan Air was efficient for a change and we arrived on time as did our bags.
We rode the Edinburgh tram for the first time as it was under construction during our earlier visits. It was a short walk to the Premier Inn but it was too early to check in. They had an attached restaurant, Bar + Block, so J. R. had a Guinness and Janie had a cider and we had a good meal before going back next door for check in. The original plan was to stroll the Royal Mile tonight but we were both exhausted so we just watched some game shows on TV and headed to bed.
