Following Scottish breakfast in our hotel, we went to the subway station to head to the Glasgow Botanic Garden. These gardens were a disappointment after seeing the ones in Edinburgh. A lot of the foliage was overgrown and unkempt and the main greenhouses were not available.
We walked towards Glasgow University to see the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. It was an interesting museum albeit strangely laid out as you would pass between modern art, then ancient sculpture and then various galleries dedicated to different nations.
When we got to the Kelvingrove, there was an email from our food tour saying that it was going to be raining and asking if we wanted to reschedule to the next evening. It did not seem they wanted to do it and we guessed we were the only people signed up so we emailed them back asking if we could just get a refund. They ghosted us until J. R. was able to get a signal to call them as we were leaving. They only offered a 50% refund so we told them we would do the tour as planned and set off to find lunch near our meeting place. It was raining more steadily now so we stopped in a restaurant called "ten eighty two", which turned out to be very good. While there, the tour texted us that the weather was turning and they would offer a full refund. We were a bit miffed at them since we had just walked in the opposite direction of the subway because we thought the tour was happening. So after lunch, we walked back to the subway and went back to George Square. Of course the weather cleared and the tour probably would have been fine.
We stopped at a cocktail bar called the Alchemist where Janie got a Strawberry Shrub Bellini and J. R. got a Bru-levardier he had to pour from a special machine. It was gimmicky but the drinks were good. We tried to go back to the Piper but it was crowded, so we went to a local pub, the Press Bar for a nightcap.
