Royal Mile

On the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, we boarded a United Airlines flight to Edinburgh, with a connection in Frankfurt. After clearing security in the UK, we took the bus into downtown Edinburgh and strolled the city streets after a late lunch at Biblo's near the University.

Christmas in Edinburgh

Edinburgh's Christmas was in full-swing with a ferris wheel set up in the gardens on Princes Street and the Edinburgh Christmas Market offering local food and crafts.

Edinburgh Castle

The next morning, we strolled up The Royal Mile to Edinburgh Castle, where we toured the centuries-old castle and got a look at the "Honours of Scotland", the crown, sword and sceptre used by the past Kings of Scotland.

Scottish Whiskey

Following the castle, we visited the Scottish Whiskey experience where Janie and J. R. got a taste of Scotland's finest whiskey while Thomas and Rebecca sipped Irn-Bru. Following the tour, we got a chance to see the world's largest collection of scotch whiskey.

Holyrood

Following a lunch of fish and chips at the pub, we finished our evening with a stroll to the other end of the Royal Mile where the Palace at Holyrood stands, which is the Queen's home in Scotland, which sits next to the Scottish Parliament building.
