We awoke early and had breakfast in our hotel and then drove to the University of California San Diego. We had to park out near the Medical Center and took a bus to the center of campus for an information session and tour. Rebecca really loved the school and added it to her list of potential colleges.
Janie wanted to drive down to La Jolla for lunch, so we fought the traffic and found a parking space and stopped at a place recommended by our campus tour guide. Janie was a little disappointed as the guide had touted it as having an ocean view, which it did, but just barely. But the food was really good.
After La Jolla, we headed north back to Los Angeles to visit Cal State Long Beach. Becca had met the water polo coach at a camp in Chicago and wanted to see the school. They didn't offer tours during the summer so we just walked around. None of us were impressed by the campus, which looked like it was built in the 1950s and never updated.
We went to downtown Long Beach for dinner at a BBQ place in a former Famous Dave's. It was pretty good barbeque and made Rebecca like Long Beach a little more. We then drove to Westwood and checked into our boutique hotel near UCLA. The front desk clerk was extremely friendly and the hotel was nice, although old.
