Only Bethany had seen Pandora: The World of Avatar at Disney's Animal Kingdom, so that was our destination for the day. We arrived about a half hour before park opening, cleared security and joined the snaking queue for the Flight of Passage. We were impressed that Disney started queuing for this ride prior to park opening and snaked people through the park to avoid the typical crush of rope drop. We all rode Flight of Passage. Bethany had sold this as one of the best rides ever, but to be honest, most of us were not impressed. The lack of a storyline detracted from the ride and the need for 3D glasses caused headaches for Rebecca. The two preshows were also very boring and unnecessary.
We tried to ride the Na'vi river journey next, but it was broken down. Alex and Bethany stayed behind to ride it since they would be leaving before our FastPass for it on our last day. The rest of us went for a couple of rides on Expedition Everest and a ride on Dinosaur! before FastPass for Kilimanjaro Safaris. Lunch was at Pizzafari where we each had a pizza and a drink. We did some shopping then met back up with Alex and Bethany for another Everest run and another trip through Dinosaur! Rebecca wanted to skip Flight of Passage FastPass so she gave hers to Bethany, who had been unable to secure one. The five of us rode FoP again while Rebecca went in search of a Mickey ice cream bar and a trip to Starbucks.
Dinner tonight was at Boma, which is always a must-eat stop during our trips to Walt Disney World. The food and drinks did not disappoint and we always enjoy the special African flavored meals. The curry was especially good as were the short ribs. And the zebra domes are a perfect dessert ending. J. R., Janie and Rebecca were tired and Janie had been fighting a cold, so we went back to the resort so she could take some cough medicine and go to sleep. Alex, Thomas and Bethany headed to Epcot for a late night stroll around World Showcase and an outside view of Illuminations.
