Morning On The Reflection

After a long day in Berlin, we were happy to have another sea day. J. R. was up early as usual for breakfast and snapped today's entry in "art or furniture" was the daisy "chair" near the buffet He headed to the Enchanted Garden for some sauna time and then the pool bar for a morning drink.

The Solarium, Trivia and Sushi on Five

The ladies were hanging out in the hot tub in the Solarium as J. R. passed through so he found a chair in the corner to have his drink and they eventually joined him for a little while before they both headed over to the Enchanted Garden themselves. J. R. had another drink and passed the time talking to a a couple of other people who shared the chair area. One couple told their tale of arriving back to the ship 15 minutes late on the train from Berlin, reinforcing our opinion our bus ride wasn't so bad. The second group was a woman and her daughter from Newcastle and we talked about Alex's time in the U.K. at St. Andrews and Durham and this young woman's experience at Cambridge and UCL. Turns out she is planning to be an attorney like Rebecca and we discussed the differences in our legal systems. Then J. R. went off to find Janie in the buffet for lunch.

We hung out by the pool some more until the afternoon 70s music trivia and general knowledge trivia. We had an early dinner planned at Sushi on Five. After edamame, we shared a Sunset Roll, a Spicy Tuna and Shrimp Tempura roll and an Alaskan California Roll.

Martini Bar

J. R. and Janie found a spot at the martini bar for evening drinks while Becca went upstairs to hang out in one of the 'birdcages' and do some reading.

Joe West Show

We went back and forth on the evening show but finally decided to go. The artist was Joe West, billed as a vocalist, dancer and multi-instrumentalist. Even though his act skewed old like most of the variety acts on this ship, he was very good and we were glad we went to see the show.

Dinner At Opus Restaurant

After eating more sushi than we had planned, we weren't really hungry for dinner but we went to the Opus anyway figuring on having an entree and maybe dessert.

Guest Services Debacle 2

After dinner, Rebecca headed upstairs to work on her college essays in the birdcage. J. R. went to go another round with Guest Services after learning Rebecca's charging privileges did not work. He asked the woman at GS to look into it and she pulled up the account and said "everything is fine". J. R. asked her why then the gelato restaurant had denied Becca's card and the the GS representative said "I've updated it". J. R. pointed out that she hadn't actually touched her computer since orignally pulling up the account and she again said "I've updated it and everything is fine.". When J. R. told her again she hadn't actually done anything, the woman walked away saying "I can't help you". The representative next to her who was helping another guest asked J. R. to sit down in the lobby and he would help him. When he finished with the guest he was helping, he came over and apologized for his colleague, said he had found the issue and updated the records and ran a test charge to make sure it worked correctly. He also said he would notify all departments to make sure they had updated the guests in our room.
