Secrets of Ship Navigation

Today was our last full day of cruising which meant another relaxing day at sea. J. R. was up early again for breakfast and then relaxed in the Persian Garden until 10. He returned to the room to wake up Rebecca and finish up packing. Janie had gotten up in the meantime and gone to breakfast and then attended the "Secrets of Ship Navigation" presentation.

Bridge Tour

The two adults met up at 10:45 for a bridge tour. One of the officers escorted us onto the bridge and showed us the navigation systems, explained how the propulsion worked and gave us a general overview of bridge operations.

Secondary Bridge Controls

The officer walked us through the controls and explained how the Captain and other bridge officers use them to navigate.

Pilot Window

The officer informed us that the pilot window is really just for decoration on modern ships as the Captain no longer needs to look down at the dock while bringing the ship into modern ports.

Chart Room

The chart room is another legacy room in modern ships as all of the charts are electronic. However, regulations still require paper charts in the unlikely event of a complete computer failure.

View From The Bridge

It was a rainy morning and the first rough seas we had encountered all week.

Christening Champagne Bottle

Celebrity Reflection was christened in 2012 by her four godmothers, each with connections to the fight against breast cancer.

Afternoon on the Reflection

After hitting the bar again, we met up for lunch in the buffet. It felt like a 'greatest hits' of the dinner menu as they had butter chicken, stroganoff and other items we had throughout the cruise. Noon was trivia time, so J. R. and Janie grabbed a drink and met in the Grand Foyer for Party Hits Trivia with DJ Blease. The music was highly recognizable and we tied for first. We would have been perfect except for confusing the Black Eyed Peas for Flo Rida. Janie did most of the heavy lifting with J. R. only contributing Little Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus. The afternoon was time for relaxing and drinking. All of three of us met back up at 3PM in the Sky Lounge for Music Trivia Through the Decades with Giuseppe. We didn't do too well on this because we are not 'through the ages' people. General knowledge trivia was next and we did okay, falling just a few short of winning.

Martini Bar

Rebecca went off to the spa while J. R. and Janie claimed our trivia prizes at 4:45, winning a mug and a pen. We then went up to change for dinner and headed back to the Martini Bar. Rebecca joined us for another virgin martini and we made her tip Budi for his hard work all week. We had several martinis and decided to skip the show, tired of swing music.

Tuscan Grille

Dinner tonight was at the Tuscan Grille. J. R. opened with the calamari and carpaccio while Becca went with just the calamari and Janie opted for the bruschetta. For dinner, the ladies split a filet and mashed potatoes while J. R. had the lobster alfredo. The pasta was disappointing as it was pretty bland. Janie thought the filet was good but Rebecca didn't think it measured up to Le Petit Chef or Murano.

Around The Ship

Following dinner, we took some photos around the ship and got another drink.

80's Silent Disco

Rebecca was going to try to see the late night comedy but it was 18 and up only so she instead went and did some reading and went to bed. Janie and J. R. headed to the Grand Foyer for another night of silent disco. Just like last night, this area was way too crowded and a group of teens trying to squeeze their way in led to some hip checks from more experienced guests. Not sure why the teens felt they needed to be in the center of the floor when others were already there.
