Early Morning in Cozumel

Once again Alex and J. R. were the early risers, but today they were joined by Janie and she and Thomas had an early morning excursion. Thomas headed straight to the theater while Janie joined the other two for a quick morning breakfast before meeting for her excursion to Chichen Itza.

J. R., Alex and Rebecca met up in the room and then headed off the ship to meet their excursion to Playa Mia beach club. They wandered through the shops for a little bit before heading to Tiki Hut 2 to wait for the bus.

Playa Mia

The bus ride to Playa Mia was quick and soon we had a couple of beach chairs right next to the ocean. The water had been 'red flagged' for the day due to high winds, so none of the water features were available but the kids still were able to venture into the water. They also took advantage of the water park and pools while J. R. listened to music and did crossword puzzles. J. R. and Alex took a walk down to one of the other beach clubs while Becca worked on her tan.

Lunch

A buffet lunch and drinks were included in the cost of the excursion so we all had ribs and chicken and Alex and J. R. enjoyed a few cervezas and Becca had herself a virgin pina colada, her favorite.

Heading Back to the Ship

After lunch, the kids went back to the pool and then we all changed for the bus ride home. We stopped at the Chocolate Boutique while waiting for the bus where they had samples of all of their chocolates. Rebecca picked up a dark cacao chocolate bar for the plane ride home.

The bus ride was marred by a fellow guest who was drunk and high. He sat down next to Alex reeking of pot and asked him "Do you smoka the weed?" When Alex said no, the guy said "we have nothing to talk about". He proceeded to harass J. R. and other people on the bus even after being told to leave people alone. One of the guests spoke to security at the gate but they did nothing as we saw him wandering through the shops.

We visited some more of the shops, where Becca picked up an Effy pendant. She wanted to visit the kitsch shops, so we looked through those before taking a few photos along the pier and then rejoining the ship.

Chichen Itza

Janie and Thomas opted for the long ferry and bus ride to see the ruins at Chichen Itza, something they both had wanted to do for a long time.

Sailaway

Janie and Thomas returned near sailaway and we met up with them for some afternoon trivia and a light snack in the buffet.

Show and Dinner

Tonight's show was something different, a speed violinist. Greta Salome is an Icelandic singer, songwriter and violinist who was a finalist in Eurovision in 2012 and also represented Iceland in 2016. She performed two original songs as well as several hits, including a rousing rendition of "The Devil Went Down to Georgia".

After the show, we meandered our way to the top deck to our dinner locale for the night, QSine.

Le Petit Chef

For dinner, we skipped the main dining room in favor of "Le Petit Chef" at QSine. Three of us had done this show dinner on our Baltic cruise in August so we wanted to take the boys this time. The show got off to a rocky start as they played the dessert course before restarting for our show, but the experience was still fun and the food was good. J. R. and Janie thought the steak was not as good as last time, as the seasoning was a little off.

Dance Party

The daily had promised a "dance party" on the pool deck so Janie and J. R. went to check it out. When we got there, the host was trying to get people interested in line dancing (to a song that didn't lend itself well to line dancing). Then they cleared the dance area so the Celebrity dancers and singers could perform a Christmas act. After that, the host started doing a "finish the lyric" contest. So much for a "dance party", so the adults headed downstairs for a final drink.
