Morning and Santa

We kicked off Christmas Eve with breakfast in the Oceanview Cafe and then some Brain Waker Trivia, where we scored another victory. Then we went down to the "Family Christmas Celebration" in the theater to see Santa. Rebecca didn't want to wait for her gift so we left so she could return to the pool.

Lunch

Today was our day to hang around the ship and do nothing so after some more time hanging at the pool, we went upstairs for lunch in the buffet. J. R. braved the long lines for the carving station and picked up a variety of meats as well as some desserts. The desserts were pretty, but all tasted the same to us.

Posing on the Ship

Rebecca and Janie took some time for a photoshoot on the deck of the ship

Ship and Trivia

We spent the afternoon drinking on our premium package and then reunited for another round of trivia with Roxtar in Constellation where we once again tied for first.

Star Factory

The evening show was called "Star Factory" and featured the orchestra, the singers and dancers and the aerialists. The show was cute with a lot of great music from all eras. We were very pleased with the entertainment on Infinity as it was more modern than what we had on the Reflection in the summer.

Family Photos

After the show we posed for some family photos. We were disappointed that some of them appeared to be lost by the photo studio. They appeared on the kiosk when we checked it but later when we went to buy prints, they did not exist.

Dinner Disaster

Things went off the rails at dinner, putting a stain on our Christmas Eve. It started when our waiter greeted us with "Nice of you to come to dinner tonight" when we sat down. We had skipped the night before in favor of the specialty restaurant, QSine. We explained this to him but then he brought it up again when J. R. ordered an iced tea, saying "we had one ready for you last night but you didn't show up." We didn't know if he was trying to be funny or not, but having shown no sense of humor all week, we guessed he was upset at missing out on a "My Time Dining" tip from the night before.

Thomas tried to order two entrees for dinner but Raj only read back one. J. R. stopped him before he left and Thomas ordered the second entree. Then the food began to arrive. Rebecca ordered gumbo and when she tasted it, she said it tasted funny. J. R. took one look at it and said, "that's because it is butternut squash soup". The waiter came back a few minutes later and asked if he had served the wrong soup (obviously realizing he was missing one when he got to another table).

Thomas did not like the cordon bleu and barely touched it. When the waiter came to clean up, he told Thomas that it was not a good choice. Not sure why he didn't say that when Thomas ordered it. The Lobster Melange was really good though, and Raj did bring extra for us.

For dessert, Janie ordered the nougat & chocolate and it was so hard it required a steak knife to cut. For some reason Raj also brought a bread pudding to the table, even though no one had ordered it. None of us like bread pudding.

Raj saved the worst for last by telling us about the survey and "hoping you will give us a perfect score". Then he asked J. R. "what number will you be giving me". J. R. laughed and said "We have one more night, right?" Raj repeated his question and J. R. told him we'd see how tomorrow night goes and not to ask again. He started to ask again and J. R. got up and left to avoid telling him about all of the service issues from the week.

After dinner, we went down to the room to exchange Christmas presents with the kids and open one of our bottles of wine. The the kids went off to sleep while Janie and J. R. went up to Constellation for the Abba-themed dance party. The band was very good although it was obvious they didn't really know Abba songs. The adults stayed for awhile afterwards for the DJ party as well.
