Calgary Zoo

We picked up Rebecca in the morning after her sleepover and drove to Calgary for the day. We had originally talked about staying in Calgary and seeing the Calgary Stampede, but changed our minds before the trip and decided on just a day trip to the Calgary Zoo. It was nice zoo with some local animals, which made up for a distinct lack of local wildlife on our Canada excursions.

After the zoo, we stopped for lunch at the Canadian Brewhouse. Service was horrible and the food was just okay. We drove back to Red Deer where we had a barbeque and scrimmage against our Red Deer hosts. The U.S. Women's Soccer team was playing a semifinal game so our hosts brought out a TV and we watched the USA advance to the finals before having burgers and hot dogs. We scrimmaged our hosts and Rebecca earned a clean sheet in five minutes in goal and scored once.
