J. R. was up bright and early Christmas Day and went for breakfast at Cabana's and for a walk around deck 4 while the rest of the family slept. Then he stopped by the atrium where the crew was handing out cookies and coffee and hot chocolate. He picked up some cookies to take back to the rooms, where Rebecca and Thomas were already awake. Janie woke up soon after and Thomas and Janie decided to pick up some cookies for themselves while Rebecca went up on deck to swim and watch movies. We also got a Christmas present from Santa, a Disney Cruise line luggage tag for each of us.
While Rebecca was watching the Disney Holiday Celebration on the big screen, the adults went to another "Anyone Can Cook" presentation. Today's selection was sea bass, which is what Janie had for dinner the night before. This one was cooked much better than the one in the main dining rooms.
We decided next to do the tile coaster craft. This was billed as an adult-only activity, but there were other kids there, so J. R. went to find Rebecca so she could make a tile coaster as well. We spent a lot of time trying to come up with our designs but finally settled on them and glued them in place.
J. R. and Janie had the Chocolate and Liquor tasting planned next so Thomas went off to join the 1820 Society for lunch and Rebecca went to Cabanas and then to the movies. The tasting was wonderful with a variety of liquors and both solid and melted chocolates and we got to see how the chocolate changed the taste of the liquor.
After the tasting, it was time for lunch and some more relaxation in the Rainforest Room. After dressing for dinner, J. R. and Rebecca went to O'Gills Pub to watch his Pittsburgh Steelers take on the Baltimore Ravens. The bar was a decidedly Steelers crowd and J. R. had a couple of Blue Moons and Rebecca got a virgin daiquiri. The family headed up to see The Great Dubois in the Walt Disney Theatre while J. R. stayed through halftime of the game. Then we all decided to go as a family to the "So You Think You Know Your Family?" game show in Fathoms. This was a big mistake as the show was incredibly stupid. They insisted on putting young kids up on stage against their parents and the kids could not understand the game or the questions. The studio host had no patience for kids and it showed throughout the show. The lowlight was when one kid drew a gun on his whiteboard and held it up to his head. The Steelers game, meanwhile, was won by Pittsburgh at the final minute and would have been much more fun to watch. After the game, it was time for dinner, which was a special Christmas meal in Cariocas. J. R. and Janie ordered a bottle of wine, their favorite sparkling, Rose Regale, and finished it off over dinner.
After dinner, Thomas went off with his friends while J. R. and Janie enjoyed a nightcap. Rebecca hung out on deck for a little while and then we all turned in for the night.
