We checked out of our hotel in Brandon and drove north of Tampa. Breakfast was at First Watch and then we headed to Del Webb Bexley. We had visited a Del Webb in Austin, TX that we had liked so we wanted to see how Florida compared. We drove around the Bexley area which was largely commercial/industrial, but new businesses were popping up, including a Publix, Starbucks and First Watch.
We drove to the coast near New Port Richey and found a little beach park and took a walk along the sand of the Gulf Coast.
We had come to the coast area to check out New Port Richey but it was fairly run down. Our stop at Lennar at Copperspring was unimpressive. The agent didn't have much to offer and the subdivision was located right off a busy highway.
On our way to the next stop, we visited Taylor Morrison's Esplanade at Starkey Ranch. We really liked the Starkey Ranch area but the community would not let us build until we are 55.
We had time to kill before our next visit, so we stopped by Esplanade at Wireglass Ranch. They were mostly sold out and again we were told we could not build until we are 55.
Our GPS got us lost again but we finally made our way to the Epperson community. This was a large community being built near Wesley Chapel. We stopped at a Pulte development and we liked the community and the houses, but the rooms were small although the showers were a nice size. Our agent took us through the Lagoon, which would have been very nice when we had kids at home.
When we were in New Port Richey, J. R. decided to look for a seafood restaurant and made a reservation at Catches Waterfront Grille. We waited around for a few minutes so they could clear a table near the window so we got to enjoy a waterfront view and a great dinner, including key lime pie. Following that, we drove north to Crystal River, where we were staying for the night.
