Bus Ride through Belize

We arrived in Belize earlier than had been originally planned so our excursion left early in the morning. We had breakfast and headed to the theater to wait before being brought downstairs for a tender ride to the shore, where we had to wait before boarding a bus.

Our guide was very funny and informative and gave us a lot of information about Belize City, Belize but the bus ride was over an hour long - much longer than expected.

Riverboat Cruise

The next portion of our excursion was billed as a "riverboat cruise" but it was really just high-speed transportation from where the bus dropped us off to the Lamanai site. We saw one small crocodile and were told there was another in the water, but that was about it for the wildlife.

Lamanai

We hit the dock and Lamanai and began a tour of the Mayan ruins. This was a much better tour than the one we went on in Cozumel. Our guide was knowledgeable and explained a lot about the ruins and how they were built. We were given the opportunity to climb to the top of the last ruin and look out over the complex.

Lunch

After our ruins tour, we were loaded back into the boat. Three more people from a private excursion were placed on our boat, making it very crowded. We ended up back where the bus dropped us off, where Janie spotted a crocodile in the water right near the dock. We had lunch and J. R. bought some overpriced Coke Zero for the bus ride back. Lunch was very good with barbecued chicken and plantains.

We boarded the bus for the long ride back to the port. We boarded a waiting tender and sat for awhile before finally getting back to the Apex, where we grabbed a burger and a hot dog and then went to the room to shower and change.

Showtime and Dinner

Tonight's show was Rockumentary, which was a high-energy song and dance show by the Celebrity entertainers. We have always been impressed by the quality of the entertainment onboard Celebrity from their staff. It is much better than any other cruise line, including Disney. While DCL has great shows, they are typical Disney formula shows with Disney songs. This show was a variety of music from the 60s, 70s, and 80s.

Our dinner tonight was in Normandie. Nothing on the menu especially jumped out at us. J. R. had the rigatoni boscaiola, which was good but not spectacular. Janie thought the same about her lavender roasted halibut. The staff was concerned we didn't like our meals, but we really were not hungry after a late lunch. We left without dessert and the hostess called out to us to see if we were okay but we really just wanted to go to Eden for the show there.

Night of Enchantment

We found a couple of seats in the balcony and ordered drinks and settled into watch the show. It involved a painter adding to a painting and the Eden dancers and aerialists and singers. We never quite know what is going on with a Celebrity show, but it was entertaining. We skipped the late night activities tonight in favor of a drink at the martini bar and turned in a little early after a couple of busy days.
