Last Day at Sea

More Sauna and Relaxing

We had booked another day in the Thermal Spa so we took advantage of that after breakfast. We took turns in the saunas and heated loungers and once again the place was virtually empty.

After changing, we attended Giuseppe's talk on ship life which was both funny and informative. Then we had a quick lunch in the buffet before our California wine tasting. We had paid for a World Wine Tour online before the cruise and had asked Guest Relations several times when it would be held. After J. R. called the Cellar Master the day before, we learned that tasting had been bought out by a private group and was not being offered to us. But no one told us that (or that our Mixology 101 we had paid for was also not available). If we had not called repeatedly, we would have missed out on these and expect Celebrity would not have refunded us. As it was, they only gave us back on-board credit for Mixology (which they had swapped with a Macallan tasting they had never informed us about until we found the card after the fact at our old room). They gave us the California wine tasting as a replacement for the World Wine Tour but it was not the same thing (although they charged us the same price).

Refugee Rescue

We spent the afternoon indulging in our drink package and were getting ready to go wait in line for the rescheduled "Caravan" performance when we noticed the ship was leaning very heavily to port. We assumed at first the Captain was making the turn towards home but he made an announcement shortly thereafter that guests had spotted a small raft at sea and he was turning the ship around to assist. Three refugees from Cuba in a small raft were brought onboard and held until a Coast Guard cutter came alongside to pick them up and take them to Key West.

Caravan

We waited in line for fifteen minutes to get prime seats for Caravan. We had seen the show on our first cruise, but our seats had been in the back row and J. R. was behind a pole. So this time, we claimed the front row. The show was fantastic and the entertainers did a great job, particularly when the music was shut off for an announcement about the refugee pickup but the main singer kept singing anyway without accompaniment and the dancer continued her act swinging on a large hoop. We had seen her around the ship at dinner as well as at several of the dance parties during the week.

Martinis, Dinner and Dancing

We were back in Tuscan for dinner and the hostess arranged to pair us with the same waiters as the night before. They continued their excellent service and Tuscan solidified its ranking as our favorite restaurant.

After dinner, it was time for martinis and then dancing the night away at the final Silent Disco. The two house DJs were joined by Giuseppe and we had a great time dancing the entire time. We tried to go to the Club to finish the night but they were playing only club music and that didn't appeal to us so we went to the sports bar for a night cap and went to our room for one last sleep on the Apex.
