Piraeus Port Embarkation
Celebrity Infinity
We had one last breakfast in the Electra Palace hotel and then checked out and waited for our car from Athens Transfer Service. The van arrived and we made a very quick trip to Piraeus port, so quick that we were one of the first groups to arrive and had to sit under a canopy until they opened the embarkation hall. Eventually we passed through security and sat for a bit before being called onto the ship. It was our second time on the Celebrity Infinity, the first being in 2019, our last cruise before the pandemic. We were so early our muster station was not open, so we dropped our bags in the room and went to the buffet for some food and our first drinks. Then we were able to complete the muster drill and go down to the martini bar to introduce ourselves and Becca to one of our favorite locations on Celebrity ships. J. R. headed to Rendezvous Lounge for another drink while Janie and Rebecca went to the pool. He joined them later and then we all went to Rendezvous for drinks at sailaway. The captain said we would be delayed and would be releasing the moorings in 20 minutes and J. R. and Becca wondered when he released the Kraken, which Becca named Josh. Janie was napping for this conversation so we decided to head for coffee and tea in Cafe al Bacio.
After a few more drinks, we headed to the theater for the evening show. The entertainer was a violinist and fiddle player, Juliette Primrose, and she was quite good.
We had the 8:30 dining time for this cruise upstairs in main dining. We met our dining team and settled in for dinner. The wine service on Celebrity continued to decline as they did not have any Riesling and the wine server never came around to refill Janie's glass, despite us being on the premium package. Drink service is also bad as it takes a long time to get a tea or soda. The food was good but not great. We were tired and decided to skip the silent disco since the lobby around the martini bar was already crowded by the time we got out of dinner. Sleep would have to wait as when we returned to the room, the steward had not made up the pull-out bed for Rebecca. J. R. called Guest Services and we waited 15 minutes for someone to arrive. He did not seem happy and made it clear the steward was supposed to handle this so we hoped he went and said something. Then he had to go back and get sheets and pillows, which was strange because when we had dropped off our luggage, there were extra sheets on the main bed. So our steward knew she had to make the bed and chose to take the sheets away. We barely saw her most of the trip and had issues getting towels as well.
