Breakfast was at the hotel and Rebecca was happy to see Nutella packets on the buffet. After check-out, we started on our short drive to Blarney Castle
Upon arrival at the castle, there was a large tour group coming through, so we went first to the upper gardens instead of the castle which we figured would be the tour group's first stop.
Following our garden trek, we began our tour of the castle itself. There was still a significant queue which made for slow going up the castle steps which made it very claustophobic. But we finally reached the top, where everyone except J. R. bent over to kiss the Blarney Stone.
Following the Blarney Stone, we walked through the Poison Garden, where various poison herbs were growing.
We left Blarney mid-afteroon and drove to Killarney, which would be our stop for the next two nights. We found our way to our hotel, the Best Western Eviston House, which was in the heart of downtown Killarney. Much to Janie's dismay, we learned the entrance to the car park was down an alley that was just barely larger than our rental car. After two trips around the block, J. R. jumped out and directed Janie down the alley to the car park, all of us glad we wouldn't be moving the car until we left Killarney.
After checking into the hotel, and learning they had placed us in a room that was already occupied, so we had to switch rooms, we walked around Killarney for awhile, finding it to be a very cute little town with lots of quaint shops. We settled on Salvador's Restaurant for dinner, which was a welcome change from pub food. We dined on flatbread pizzas and Irish burgers along with some cold beer. We stopped at Danny Mann's pub in our hotel for another round of drinks to watch the Euro 2016 football with the rest of the Irish fans.
Wi-Fi in our rooms was non-existent so we turned in for the night.
