After leaving Dalwhinnie, we headed across Scotland towards Glamis Castle, best known from "that Scottish Play", Macbeth. While there is no evidence Shakespeare ever visited Glamis, it is widely believed he did. The real fame of the castle, however, comes from it being the youth home of the late Queen Mother, mother of Queen Elizabeth II.
After Glamis, we drove south to St Andrews and checked in at our hotel, which was Agnes Blackadder Hall, one of the St Andrews residence halls. We were hungry so Alex suggested Balgove Larder, a steakhouse nearby. However, he didn't realize they accepted reservations for graduation week (since they usually didn't take reservations) and were full up. So we made a reservation there for the following night and instead walked into town to The Vic which is a nightspot Alex often frequented. Following dinner, we bought some drinks and then headed back to our respective homes for the night.
