14 Night Norwegian Fjords & Arctic Circle Cruise

Molde

After a day at sea, the Apex was making its way back south, stopping today in the town of Molde, a much larger municipality than many of the others we had visited lately, with a population of over 22,000. We had an opportunity to see us making our way into port as we did not dock until 10AM.

Atlanterhavsvegen

We boarded a bus for a drive along the Atlanterhavsvegen, or great Atlantic road, rated as one of the best driving roads in the world. The road was featured in the James Bond film No Time to Die where the Storseisundet Bridge featured prominently in a car chase scene. We made several stops along the way to take photos of some amazing scenery,

Farstadsanden Beach

Our destination was Farstadsanden Beach, which is the world's most northernmost sandy beach, where we spent some time enjoying the ocean views.

Nordneset Kyststi Hike

We set off on a hike on the Nordneset Coastal Trail which turned into a bit of a death march from our Polish guide. She said we would keep a leisurely pace and she would remain in the middle so people could go faster or slower. But we expected there would be stops along the way to take photos but there were not, so if you stopped to take pictures, you ended up farther and farther behind her.

Nordneset Lighthouse

We hiked roughly 2.5km to the Norneset Lighthouse, a white coastal beacon on top of a small hill, which gave us an opportunity to relax and finally take in the scenery.

Hiking Back

We continued our hike along the coast for another 2KM or so before meeting our bus in a rural farm area.

On The Apex

The bus took us back to Molde. We were hungry so we went up on deck to get some food before going down to Eden to have Keshal make us a couple of his Old Fashioneds. His secret was real maple syrup, unlike the maple flavor they used in Craft Social. We had some tasty prawns for dinner in Blu before heading to the Martini Bar to avoid the ABBA sing-a-long in the Club. It's not that we dislike ABBA, per se, but we have done this twice before and it is always the same songs. We once had a Queen sing-a-long but we don't understand why they can't do other bands if they want to do a 70s night. We skipped Harrison Treble's piano bar performance. As another guest said, 'if we have to hear Billy Joel and Elton John one more time.' It was odd to have so many piano singers on the same cruise and if you are a piano man, you have to do John and Joel.
