We got up early to get breakfast as we had the full-day "Destination Highlight: Two Island Triple Play" scheduled for St. Kitts & Nevis today. We walked off the ship and down a short pier and waited under a tent for our excursion driver to lead us to our van.
Our first stop was Wingfield Estate, billed as "once a thriving sugar plantation located in a lush rainforest." It was a bit underwhelming based on that description, but the scenery was quite pretty.
Our next stop brought us to the Timothy Hill overlook where we would see Nevis and surrounding islands and the area where the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea meet.
We were supposed to be on a "custom-built power boat that whisks you on an exhilarating cruise across the narrows to the beautiful island of Nevis while you enjoy unlimited beverages (soda, water, juices, Caribbean beer) while onboard" but instead found ourselves on a single-hulled powerboat where only beer and water were offered. We did each have a Caribe beer, which was good.
A driver met us at the pier and we were less than impressed with him. He went on a long diatribe about Alexander Hamilton and his importance to the United States, repeating things over and over at high volume. He then took us to St. Thomas Anglican Church, one of the oldest in the Caribbean but rather than letting us enjoy it at leisurely pace, rushed us through with a guided tour.
Our disappointment continued as we headed to the Alexander Hamilton House as we got a lot of description of all the famous people the driver had shuttled around the island but not much information on the island itself. When we arrived at the house, he continued fawning over Hamilton, repeating his discourse from before. We did not get to go into the museum or the shop before reboarding the van.
The driver took us through the Four Seasons resort, giving him more opportunity to name drop before returning us to the catamaran. We had another beer on the way back and there was rum punch this time.
We returned to the ship and grabbed a quick bite in the buffet before going down to the martini bar for a drink with Maelynn, the lovely flair bartender and a stop in Craft Social where Anush introduced Janie to a sipping rum, Bumbu, that she loved. We headed to dinner in Cyprus again where we were sat next to a lovely couple who we chatted with over dinner. J. R. had the fish and chips special which we joked about given the supposed Greek theme of the restaurant while Janie had a pasta she really liked.
Janie decided to do the BaraJolka Sand Theater show where a Chinese artist made art using sand. She enjoyed it for a while but said it was not entertaining for 45 minutes. J. R. went to Bacio for a coffee before going to Craft Social. Janie headed to the Club and found good seats for Smoke and Ivories, a show by the Eden production cast so J. R. joined her there. After the show, we went back to Craft Social where Janie had a chocolate martini and an espresso martini and J. R. had a chocolate martini.
