Jaco Falls

It was raining as we headed into Dominica and we had not brought our rain jackets or umbrellas. But we were both dressed for going to the beach in the afternoon, so a little rain did not impact us as we boarded a bus to Jaco Falls. We watched the falls from the uppermost point and then J. R. walked down the 60 steps to the waterfall pool. On normal days, guests could go into the waterfall pool but our guide said this was the roughest she had ever seen and no one was allowed in the pool.

Mero Beach

Our next stop was Mero Beach, where it was still drizzling when we arrived. After struggling with one beach umbrella, we moved back a row to one of the new ones which the beach attendant had just arrived from China by Amazon via the United States. We had not been given our drink tickets so we went back to get them and witnessed an argument between some guests and the tour guides because they wanted to go back to the ship and the guides said they could not unless everyone agreed and they got clearance from Celebrity. Eventually they were able to get enough people to want to go back on one of the three buses. But the weather cleared and we had a nice hour-and-a-half of gorgeous weather on the black sand beach.

Night on the Ascent

Our van ride back to the ship was cramped and the ride through town was congested but we were dropped off at the pier and headed right upstairs to the buffet for lunch and then a quick stop at the Martini Bar for a drink. We went to the Club where we tied for first in 80s music trivia, missing only one artist even though the host only scored on song titles. The tiebreaker was to guess a song from the lyrics. J. R. knew the song but not the title and started singing it to Janie who quickly realized it was Material Girl and won the tie breaker prize of a fanny pack and deck of cards. We stayed for General Knowledge but did not do well.

We had dinner in main dining and went to see pianist Joshua Christina perform in the theater. He was very entertaining with a variety of piano music including two Elton John and Billy Joel songs although some of his shtick was a little tiresome. We finished the night in Craft Social.
