After yesterday's boat excursion, both of us we rethinking our planned Motu Pinic Escape excursion. But the seas had calmed some and the boat we were using today had proper seats. So after another tender ride to shore, we were off on our exploration of Moorea. Our captain kept us entertained and informed as we skirted along the coast. He took us by the shuttered Intercontinental Hotel and we had images of what it would have been like to stay there right on the ocean. We saw some rays and turtles in the water as we headed off to the snorkeling location.
The captains tethered the three boats together and chummed up the water to get the stingrays to come over and Janie went out and did some snorkeling. She saw a small shark as well as closeups of the stingrays but our camera did not work so she missed out on a shark photo.
After snorkeling we headed to a motu for a picnic lunch. After a wet landing, we were able to find a table. Originally they seated us outside but it was drizzling so J. R. snagged a table inside. The people nearby, who were already using another table for their gear tried to discourage us from sitting there because the table held one of the pole for the tent, but we think that was a ploy to get themselves another table they didn't need.
We were invited to see where the food was being cooked in banana leaves and had another 'influencer' who felt the need to videotape the entire unveiling, holding her camera high in the air to block out other people. We then had a ceviche-making demonstration where we were introduced to the moto cat. The guide dropped some tuna and said 'don't worry, the cat will get it.' We all laughed until a few minutes later, a black-and-white cat appeared and snagged the fish.
We got in line for lunch and it was all very good, especially the sausages.
After lunch, J. R. went down to the beach to take some photos while Janie listened to the coconut cutting demonstration and then it was time to wade back onto the boats for our ride back to port.
The tender lines were incredibly long and it was extremely hot as the ship passed our cool towels but they lines moved fast and Celebrity brought in one tender just as one left to keep things moving quickly. We changed clothes and went to the martini bar for some drinks. The show tonight was Divas 3. We had seen a similar act, Unique 3, on the Summit and the artists the Divas were covering were not of interest to us, so we decided on an early dinner instead of the show.
That gave us time to listen to some of the music in Ensemble Lounge and then head up to Sky Lounge for the 80s Warm Up Party where we had seats right on the edge of the dance floor. Roxstar and Mona came up at 10 for the Totally 80s Party, which had to be delayed to wait for guests from the 9PM show. Roxstar chose two people to represent their sides of the bar and played some name that tune with them. We helped our side name a few songs and then it was time for the dance party. No sooner than we stood up right beside our chairs, some woman came over and flopped her purse into Janie's chair to 'claim it' and we told her, sorry, we are still using it, since our drinks are still on the table. Apparently if you want to dance for a song or two, you can't have a seat. (It would have been different if she actually was trying to sit, but she was just trying to claim the seats for herself so she could go dance).
