At Sea

We continued our northward trajectory towards Hawai'i today with more relaxation in the Solarium and morning trivia and progressive trivia before lunch. After the World Wine Tour earlier in the week, Janie had signed us up for the Riedel Wine Workshop. This wine tasting was supposed to show how different types of glasses changed the aroma and taste of various wines. While J. R. agreed the taste and aroma changed, it still didn't convince him that wine was worth drinking, no matter the glass size and shape. But Janie enjoyed the wines and looked forward to purchasing her Reidel set when she returned home.

Crossing the Equator

We went out on the pool deck for the Equator crossing party. We had already become shellbacks during our Galapagos cruise so the ceremony didn't mean much to us. The pool area was very crowded so we watched a little bit of the ceremony and then left. We were surprised the ceremony started a little after 1PM since by the ship's navigation, we had already crossed the equator ten minutes previously. Just like with the dateline, we had hoped there would be an announcement when we crossed (so we could look out for the black dotted line).

Lunch and a Show

After wine tasting we headed to the buffet for lunch. Because tonight was the King's Coronation and Eddy is from Wales, the 9PM show was cancelled to show the pomp and circumstance, which meant Danny Elliott would be doing a matinee show at 2PM. We decided to catch this one to allow is to eat dinner a little earlier tonight.

Captains Club Officers Reception

Celebrity hosted a officers' meet and greet in the afternoon for Elite members. We chatted with Roxstar for a few minutes before the event and then had a couple of cocktails. The brought in one of the performers who impressed us by undressing to his boxers all while performing a handstand. Then then introduced the steering committee. It would have been nice if they had mingled a little. They did a receiving line, were introduced, and then headed out the door.

Early Dinner in Blu

Tonight's menu in Blu was less than impressive to us. We both settled on the duck ravioli, which J. R. felt had been drowned in sauce.

Blu Menu

Reigning Rocks

The singers and dancers performed a show called Reigning Rocks which focused on British music and was really well done, with exceptional costuming and music and a lot of high energy singing and dancing. We watched a little of the dance party that followed and then talked with one of the singers in the elevator as we made our way downstairs.

Opry and Disco

We attended Anthony's solo guitar performance where he played songs from the Grand Ole Opry at 9PM and then came out for the silent disco battle of the DJs. While we enjoyed the music, the area in the Grand Foyer is too small for dance parties. We kept being moved towards the stairs by people trying to get on the dance floor and then having people trying to come down the stairs pushing their way through. One person even grabbed Janie by the hips to move her as he tried to come down the stairs. At the very least the stairs should have been closed off.
